I really like how you took a very simple math formula and then used it in the SAT. If students learn to see the SAT math as just simple puzzles that they have to solve, their SAT math score will improve.

I agree with Joe completely. College is a very individual experience and the more prepared someone can be and the more research they have done, the more at peace they can ultimately be with their decision. Persistence and personal contact is a lost art and a face to face meeting with an admission officer along with a polite follow up email can go a long way. I would recommend a summer program that talks about navigating the admission process if one is starting from ground zero it could be really beneficial.

[...] The Critical Reading section is a great place to guess when you’re not sure of an answer to a question. But how do you know when to guess? Well, the basic rule is to guess when you can eliminate one choice. This applies to the Writing section as well, but apparently not to the Math section, as Marty Rafson explains in his post, Guessing Versus Omitting. [...]

This type of stuff really hurt me back when I took the SAT's. Normally I'm very good with sentence comprehension, but it was very hard to concentrate on a long paragraph because of the stress of the SAT's. This stuff is very important.

These points can be crucial: Especially when it comes to a school that is one of your first choices. It may also be crucial for student athletes who want to at least hit the minimum score to accept a scholarship to a specific university. For example, to get into Alabama, you need @ least a 950 which is far above the minimum of 820 the NCAA states is the bare minimum. This practice means only one thing: Despite if you're a student or student athlete, the school you're entering wants you to succeed: In school.

It's unfortunate but true that if you write a longer essay, even with incorrect information, you'll get a high score.

Just be organized, use logic to "prove" your thesis and make up whatever facts you want.

Sad but true.
